At. St. Francis, we strive to ensure that children always have plenty to do and to capture their imagination! These efforts include the following:
- Special Activities: Each year, students have opportunities for special activities through field trips (like this year's middle school enrichment program's visit to Falling Waters) and guest artists (such as our yearly visit from West Virginia folk singer and historian Tom Breiding)
- Extra-Curricular Activities: Through work on the yearbook, band, drama, student council, athletics, P.S.A.L.M. (our student-led anti-landmine advocacy group), and after school programs, there's always an avenue for your child to explore her or his interests outside of class time.
- Fairs – Students are given numerous opportunities to showcase their special academic talents through fairs in Social Studies, Social Justice, and Science. Students also participate yearly in spelling and geography bees at the school, county, and state levels!
- Middle School Advisory: Through advisory, students in our middle school build strong bonds with their classmates, engage in inter-class competitions (such as the yearly pumpkin roll), listen to guest speakers, and more!
- Service Projects: - Our school's mission is centered around the commitment "to serve, not to be served." Our students live this out in ways that are too numerous to count, but include being Head Start sponsors, giving to St. Ursula's Food Pantry, volunteering for Adaptive P.E. class at WVU, our yearly Linus Blanket project during Catholic Schools Week (which this year benefitted orphans in Haiti), the Gabriel Project, Christian Help, the Bartlett House, and the Starfish Project for wells in Cambodia!
